Zebra Stallions "The Challenge"

Becci observed these zebra stallions fighting in Botswana while on location filming her documentary. Plains zebra live in groups consisting of one stallion with up to six mares and their foals. A stallion must defend his harem from bachelor males. When challenged, the stallion issues a warning to the invader. If the warning is not heeded, a fight breaks out. Zebra fights often become violent, with the animals biting at each other's necks or legs and kicking. These zebra stallions are featured in Becci's documentary airing on PBS stations across the nation.
